Explanation of Basic Electronics Components -
Electronics:

The branch of engineering which deals with the flow of current through vacuum tubes, gas tubes, semiconductors, etc. is called electronics.

Components:

Semiconductors used in electronics devices are called electronics components.

Electronics components are mainly of two types:
  1. Active Component (Transistor, Triac, LED etc).
  2. Passive Component (Resistors, Capacitors, Inductors, Diodes etc).

Resistor

Resistor

A material that obstructs the flow of electrons but does not stop them is called a resistor.Like Carbon Resistor Ceramic Resistor etc.Unit of resistance is 'Ohm'.The resistor is denoted by 'R'.

Resistors are mainly of two types:
  1. Fixed Resistor.
  2. Variable Resistor.
Resistance grouping is mainly of three types:
  1. Series Grouping
  2. Parallel Grouping
  3. Series Parallel or mixedg grouping


Capacitor

Capacitor

A capacitor is a device that can hold an electrical charge.A unit 'Farad' of capacitance.The capacitor is denoted by 'C'.

Capacitors are mainly of three types:
  1. Electrolytic Capacitor.
  2. Solid Dielectric Capacitor.
  3. Variable Capacitor.
Capacitor grouping is mainly of three types:
  1. Series Grouping.
  2. Parallel Grouping.
  3. Mixed Grouping.


Inductor

Inductor

A coil which prevents the change of current flow is called an inductor coil.Unit 'Henry' of inductor.Inductance is expressed by 'L'.

Inductor Grouping is mainly of three types:
  1. Series Grouping.
  2. Parallel Grouping.
  3. Mixed Grouping.


LED

LED

Full form of LED is light emitting diode.When this diode is forward biased, current flows through it and this current flow causes light to be emitted from it, hence it is called Holliday test lamp.LED plastic lens, LED chip is composed of flat area anode,cathode.



Diode

Diode

A diode is an electronic device that allows current to flow in one direction and prevents current from flowing in the opposite direction in a circuit.It is a semiconductor device, mainly made of silicon and germanium.

All Types of Diode:
  1. Light emitting diode.
  2. Zener diode.
  3. Tunnel diode.
  4. Photo diode.
  5. Gunn diode.
  6. Pin diode.
  7. Baritt diode.
  8. Backward diode.
  9. Schottky diodes.


Transistor

Transistor

An electronic device in which electricity flows and the output of that current is amplified is called a transistor.That is, the function of the transistor is to amplify the signal and make it flow in the circuit.

Transistors are mainly of two types:
  1. PNP transistor
  2. NPN transistor


Diac

Diac

Diac stands for Diode AC Switch.It is a bidirectional device.It has two terminals and three semiconductor layers.



Triac

Triac

Triac means trigger on AC. It is three terminal switching device.



Integrated Circuit

Integrated Circuit

IC is the short form of integrated circuit. It is a type of micro electronics device. It looks flat, small, black, gray in color. Made up of many transistors, diodes, resistors, capacitors etc.



MOSFET

Mosfet

Full name of mosfet Metal Oxide Field Effect Transistor.It is a unipolar device. It is a three-terminal semiconductor device in which current flow is caused by the flow of electrons or holes.

There are two types of MOSFET:
  1. N Channel Metal Oxide Field Effect Transistor.
  2. P channel metal oxide field effect transistor.


Switch

A switch is a control device. A device used to open or close the flow of current in a circuit is called a switch.

Different types of switches:
  1. One way switch.
  2. Two-way switch.
  3. Push pull switch.
  4. Pushbutton switch.
  5. Slow brake switch.
  6. Knife switch.
  7. Rotary switch.


Optocoupler

"An optocoupler is an electronic component that interconnects two separate electrical circuits using light sensitivity.



IGBT

IGBT

IGBT is the full form Insuleted gate bipolar transistor.It works as high efficiency and fast switching.It is a type of transistor. It is a power semiconductor device that primarily acts as an electronic switch.

There are basically two types of IGBT
  1. Single phase IGBT.
  2. Three phase IGBT


Fuse

Fuse

A fuse is an electronics, electromechanical device that protects a circuit from excessive current or overload.

Fuses are mainly of two types:
  1. DC fuse
  2. AC fuse
